The scent of success is sweet for a local Perthshire Florist, thanks to the involvement of SURE.
 Beatriz Custodio-Strachan opened up her florist shop with a difference this year and was looking to increase footfall to her door.Butterflies of Blairgowrie offers an environmentally friendly option to those involved in the supply chain of flowers and plants, and to ethically aware consumers. Beatriz Custodio-Strachan’s passion for flowers which retain their original scent and beauty, inspired her to raise awareness of fair trade. Whilst we are learning the difference that buying fair trade tea or coffee can make, we are still unaware of the effect that mass produced flowers can have within communities if the owners of the plantations are not ethically driven. Beatriz explains: “In keeping with our ethos, we try, where we can, to stock what is locally in season. Our plants are grown with care either in the UK, or in other countries by producers who treat their plants, the environment and their employees well. We only supply natural, real flowers, which have been grown in an environmentally and socially responsible way. Because of this, each stem and plant is unique, as nature intended - celebrating the natural diversity and character of flowers.. SURE's involvement came through Fiona McPhail, Facilitator for the Sirolli Eastern Perthshire Project - a new project which aims to help areas of low economic development grow new business.
