SURE stands for Stirling University Research and Enterprise. It is a Unit within the University that is responsible for encouraging ‘enterprise’ among the University staff and students
. We run the Student Enterprise Programme, which is supported by Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley and the Scottish Institute for Enterprise. The programme offers all students the opportunity to develop enterprise skills during their time at the University. What is Enterprise? Enterprise means taking advantage of an opportunity for commercial gain. In the case of ‘social enterprise’ it could be for social gain as well as commercial gain. What are Enterprise skills? Enterprise skills are the skills that would enable you to take advantage of an opportunity for commercial gain. These include: • Lateral or creative thinking • Commercial awareness • Business skills • Self-confidence But there are lots of other skills that feed into these. Enterprise skills aren’t just for those who want to be self-employed, or to start their own business. Employers recognise that enterprise skills are valuable, and look for them in their employees – even within the public sector. What can we do for you? |
